NEW PATTERNS ADDED TO OUR WEBSITE
At our community outreach events (like the scrollsaw demonstration booth at the County Fair and at the Bates Nut Farm Pumpkin Festival), we give away animal shaped cut-outs to kids of all ages (that also includes a few "adults" too).
In the "Members Only" section of our website (under "Club patterns") we have added many more patterns that you can use to make cut-outs for our club to give away.
Since we hand out literally thousands of cut-outs, we can use as many cut-outs as you can make before the Fair. We will have some pine boards at our club meetings that you can take to make some cut-outs (please be sure to sand off the sharp edges after making the cut-outs and then bring the cut-outs to our March, April or May meetings - or if you are working a shift at the FAIR in the scrollsaw demonstration booth, you can take the cut-outs with you to the FAIR).

* 100 puzzles
* 100 heart shaped boxes
* 100 wheeled hippos
* 50 hand-held mirrors
Patterns for all of these items are located in the Members' Only section of our website (with the exception of puzzle patterns by Jaehon Yun).
We will have a presentation at our May club meeting on making puzzles featuring the patterns of Jaehon Yun (his 2 puzzle pattern books are available in our club library for members to access - and they are also available for purchase on Amazon).
The charitable organizations that we support include:
* Ronald McDonald House
* Operation Homefront
* SAY San Diego

We are hoping to have some SMALL workshops after club meetings in March, April and May for making airplanes, hippos and puzzles (respectively). Space is limited for this workshops so contact Steve Z. ASAP if you interested. Or if you would like to make some toys at a date and time other than after a club meeting, contact Steve Z. to arrange a date and time to make toys either at your shop or at his.

HAND-HELD MIRRORS
We very much appreciate the efforts of our club members to help us with getting a supply of these hand-held mirrors to Ronald McDonald House so they can distribute them on Mother's Day. And then after Mother's Day we will build up a supply of these mirrors to keep on hand for future donations.
You will find the pattern for these hand-held mirrors in the Members' Only section of our website.
Please make 1 or 2 (or more) of these mirrors from 1/2-inch hard wood that you already have on hand (red oak, white oak, maple, walnut, etc.). And just cut the outline of the mirror (do not worry about cutting the opening for the mirror, or gluing the mirror in place, etc.). We will be asking Tom L. to use his CNC machine to cut a pocket in the round part of the blank and that's where we will glue a mirror in place.
Do please take the time to round over the edges of the wood blank (either with sandpaper or with a round over bit on a router).
Thank you!

HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT OUR CLUB LIBRARY?
Please take the time to look over the listing of library books that we have available for club members to check out.
The list of books in our club library is in the Members' Only section of our club website (and you can mark which books you are interested in checking out right from that listing!).
Our club librarian (Peggy Cross) will then bring the books to the next club meeting for you to pick up. Please return them at the following club meeting.
Thank you!
FYI..Thanks to Allan Price's generous donation, we also have quite a collection of scroll saw magazines as part of our library. We will soon have those added to the listing of items that can be checked out from our club library.

A reminder that ANYONE (even folks who are not members of our club) can receive a 5% discount on items purchased from Bear Woods (www.bearwood.com) by using the code CUTUPS (all caps) at check out (with the exception of orders for the Pegas scroll bandsaw and stands for the Pegas power tools). There is a lot of great stuff you can buy at Bear Woods, but I think the #1 item that our club members buy are the Modified Geometry scroll saw blades.
And MEMBERS OF OUR CLUB also receive a 10% discount on orders placed with Klingspor (www.woodworkingshop.com) (does not apply to already discounted items or to any power tools). We periodically send a roster of club members to Klingspor, so they know who our members are. Be sure that you first set up a Klingspor customer account and that you do not check out as a Guest (Klingspor uses the phone number you enter when setting up an account to match to our club roster in order to recognize you as a club member and give you the discount at check out). Klingspor is well known for their abrasives (sandpaper) and I think the #1 item that our club members buy are their sanding mops.
And MEMBERS OF OUR CLUB also receive a 15% discount on all Hegner products offered by Advanced Machinery. Contact club member Lewis Dow about how to order and get your discount (Lewis's contact information is on the club roster of members in the MEMBER'S ONLY section the website).

FYI - With the exception of most orders placed with Bear Woods with the discount code CUTUPS (for which our club receives a small fee), any links on our website to outside firms, organizations or other entities are included only to make it convenient for you to access more information about the subject at hand, and our club does not have any financial interest in whether or not you follow any of these links or whether or not you buy anything through these links (in cases where there are products available for purchase).
