Advanced Marquetry Workshop by Ken Cowell
Objective
This class is designed to equip the student in creating a marquetry design from concept to finished project.
Pre-requisite
The student must be familiar with the marquetry technique called “Double Bevel”.
If you attended my beginning marquetry class, you qualify.
Workshop Details
Tuition is $120, payable at time of registration.
Class is 8 hours and is completed on one Saturday – 9am to 5pm.
Class size will be limited to 6 students.
The class will break for a “working lunch”
(As a side note, your finished project could be used in a future class on Box Making)
You will learn:
What to Bring
A sack lunch or money for a local eatery.
Your good pair of reading glasses!
If you want to bring your own scroll saw, check with me first.

- How to create your own design from a photograph, drawing, or picture
- How to shade each element of the design for realism and depth
- How to choose the best colors of veneers for the design
- How to use the grain of the wood to enhance the design
- How to decide the order in which each piece is cut and placed in the design
- How to sand and finish your marquetry panel
